  • Update: Purchased 2 books on BD on the 12th of June 2021, both dispatched from the UK on the 16th June and delivered to my home in Taipei on the 1st of July

I was looking for Bookdepository’s (BD) review specifically for Taiwanese users but there were not that many, and many of the existing ones were outdated. Therefore I decided to write this, for anyone who would like to use BD in the near future. Although English/ original books are significantly cheaper on BD than on other Taiwanese online book stores, on my first time using BD I was quite discouraged by the fact that you can not track your books during delivery. Although, delivery is free by BD and that comes with its risks. Furthermore, the delivery time might take longer than usual due to the pandemic.

I bought 5 books from BD over the past two months (Feb-Mar 2021), and all of them were dispatched from the UK. Note that not all books are from the UK — Some can be from Australia. I bought my first book on the 6th of February and the book was dispatched on the 9th of February. Then I heard nothing about the book for 3 weeks. A bit worried, I emailed the BD’s customer service. They replied to me in 2 days saying that if the book did not arrive in 4 weeks after the dispatch date they will refund me, which is nice of them. The book end up got delivered on the 6th of March, exactly a month from the day I bought it. They also gave a bookmark alongside the book.

The book came in a parcel like this. With a bookmark inside too.

I decided to buy more books from BD. Well if it's not delivered they will refund me, anyway. I bought 4 books on the 3rd of March. They were all dispatched within 3 days of purchase. One of them arrived on the 23rd of March (well done, in 3 weeks!) and the other three were delivered on the 30th of March.

Hope you find this article useful. I will update this article with more information when I get more books from BD.

p.s. First time writing online in a while — thanks to Oliver Luan for proofreading the article!
